October is almost Here

The reason i say October at least in the USA, its for breast cancer awareness.  i didn’t realize i havent been on here ,with my own blog ,for almost a month, its been a tough month, but September often is , but that another story for another day.

someone very close to me was recently diagnosed with a strange cancer, i know most everyone knows someone, or has had cancer themselves.. including me,Ive been clean for 25 years.

In 2012 about 14.1 million new cases of cancer occurred globally (not including skin cancer other than melanoma).[6] It caused about 8.2 million deaths or 14.6% of human deaths.[6][16] The most common types of cancer in males are lung cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer and stomach cancer. In females, the most common types are breast cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer and cervical cancer.[6] If skin cancer other than melanoma were included in total new cancers each year it would account for around 40% of cases.[17][18] In children, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and brain tumors are most common except in Africa where non-Hodgkin lymphoma occurs more often.[14] In 2012, about 165,000 children under 15 years of age were diagnosed with cancer. The risk of cancer increases significantly with age and many cancers occur more commonly in developed countries.[6] Rates are increasing as more people live to an old age and as lifestyle changes occur in the developing world.[19] The financial costs of cancer were estimated at $1.16 trillion US dollars per year as of 2010.[20]

My cousin(who happens to be my oldest friend) is still waiting for all of Her results to come back, while she did show me where  the Surgeons cut her open, i didnt think it was appropriate to post that image. but i can tell you her entire mid section(from the breast bone, to the bottom of her stomach) was cut open. Chemo will be in her future, and hopefully that will be that, we all pray!!!

this is a woman, who never smoked, hardly ever drank,  so if Ive done nothing today, maybe i talked someone into calling for a yearly appointment for a check up ,man or woman, things need to be checked..just like a car..so ..get on the phone and make your appointments!!! and i only tell you these things about my cousin . to do what it takes to get you to call and make an appointment.

when ever im upset ..or just plain confused about life in general..i always find it soothing to sit by a body of water. so this particular day, after seeing my cousin, My wonderful Husband took me to see my Grand Daughter  and sit by a lake.

  1. Ugh, I’m in the club too. Eight years for
me. I’ll pray for excellent results for your cousin, Kath. It will be a dizzying time for her. By the time she’s gone through all of her treatments and such, she will know so much, and hopefully she will see just how strong she is. I do hope her medical team will be informing her about the dreaded lymphedema. I learned about it too late, like so many others. She may have to be her own advocate. But, hey, with you by her side, you guys will make a great team to fight the fight!

  2. Wishing your cousin/best friend, all the very best. Cancer is a terrible disease and one which I’m sure we all dread. My daughter’s friend was just diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have surgery and radiation. She said that the worst part for her was that she felt well and healthy when she went for her mammogram. It was such a shock. Love your tranquil water shot and your handsome hubby with your sweet granddaughter. 🙂

  3. I’m sorry to read about your cousin. A guy I work with is going for his yearly check on Friday, as he’s done ever since losing his father to cancer 5 years ago.
I’m disgusted that in this day and age my employer is forcing him to take a days unpaid leave to keep his appointment.
Anyway rant over, I hope your time by the lake had the desired effect.

  4. Oh those dreaded words that we never want to hear. Praying for your cousin and sending you special hugs Kathy. Your Dave must have been terribly occupied by his sweet bundle of joy to even notice you taking his pic!
