It’s funny how you take things in your own Backyard for granted….. I’ve never once thought about visiting this place, but the thought of moving to another state has really made me look around. And this past Saturday we took a ride.. just down the road from us, really..30 min. away. to..Sonnenberg Mansion and Gardens. it sits high on a hill overlooking one of out finger lakes.
there was a craft show going on , with food and music, so i thought i could get my Hubby to go.ill going to start with the out side of the mansion.
I’m not sure where the summer went this year, but here it is the middle of August, and schools are opening already.its true I’m retired, but i still go by the school calendar, and i still get up at the crackA$$ of dawn., so while a take a break from my vacation to Florida, i went to spend the week-end with my good pal and her Hubby in Buffalo ,NY.. They always try to show me a good time and this past week-end was no different.
I’m always amazed at the construction going on in my Home Town, Lord knows Buffalonians have waited a long to see prosperity, and its finally happening. their down town has been revitalized into a destination place that is beyond any ones wildest dreams.
sitting on the dock of the canal, just watching the world go by, a perfect summers day, me with my cuppa, and My Hubby with His Ice Cream. Boaters love to talk about their Journey and their vessel. We also have a few boats for sight-seeing. and that will be on another day. for now just more waking around and sitting my the 2 villages near me.
just a little History, before I begin my photo journey . although I am use to living just steps away from a great lake, I cant complain at all , having the canal so close, its wonderful, we meet so many people in the summer months, who love to talk about their travels along the canal, where they been with the with the boats (of all sizes). We live just minuets from 2 towns on the Canal, we spend a great deal of time between the 2.
First proposed in 1807, its construction began in 1817. The canal contains 36 locks and a total elevation differential of about 565 feet (172Â m). It opened on October 26, 1825.[2]
Exactly a year ago this week, we had some visitors from Merry ole’England…. One of my best Flickr Budds, wanted to jump the big pond and come for a visit. So Her and her Hubby  did just that.  I’ve known Fragglerocking.  From Flickr  for a very long time, we were so excited and nervous about the visit, I mean No One comes to Rochester New York for a vacation.. Especially from as far away as these guys were coming. So the wheels were in motion.. Where to take them in a short amount of time , we actually only had 5 days, as they were going to stop a few other places before boarding the jet again.
So… We decided to take them to  a few of the WONDERS of our corner of the world.  We enjoyed this visit and we sure hope Fraggy and her Hubby did too! There were so many things we wanted to show them… That we couldn’t , they’ll just have to come back;)
